Eureka Tower carpark
Melbourne
The Eureka Tower is a 90storey residential building with one carpark solely dedicated to residents. The carpark is a typically robust and utilitarian environment experiernced in motion. An opportunity was initiated bu the project architect to exploit the potential of the verical and horizontal surfaces of the entry, as a sequence of monumental messages that engance the experience of arrival and departure through bold graphic illusions.
Ambiguous and literal information is realised through false perspectives that are concurrently both two and three-dimensional. From different view points the super-sized letterforms are perceived as either abstract distortions or literal directional information. When viewed in motion, the distorted words In, Out, Up and Down snap into alignment to convey information at key decision making points along the journey.
